My new 2017 calendar is ready for purchase! Please click on the Lulu link, in the right margin and it will take you to the page where you can place your order. This is a 12 month calendar, glossy, measuring 8.5" x 11" - featuring 12 unique digital images that I've created. These can be matted and framed, as the months go by, so it is pretty much like getting 12 prints for only $14.99. Pretty cool, I think =) Please let me know if you have any questions! See You in September!

Well, just an update here as I am going to be shutting down my ol' computer til we're settled in our new home in Illinois (should be around 9/7-8). Thanks to everyone who came up with ideas for my blog name change - I'll be contemplating which one to pick as I cruise down the highway, and will announce the winner at that time =)

Stay well and much love to everyone...God bless! Peggi

Blog Name Change & a Chance to Win =)

Hello everybody!

As many of you already know, my family and I will be relocating to Glen Carbon, Illinois on September 3. Anyway, I decided that Desert Photography will not really be a fitting name for this blog anymore, and so I would like to invite you to come up with a new name for my blog. I would like it to still mention "mixed media", "photography" and "art" if possible. I will pick the lucky winning name on August 29, and will even be giving away a piece of my art to the winner. (Haven't decided yet what it will be, but it will be something nice =) Please leave your entry here as a comment, and you can enter as many times as you'd like (within reason, of course LOL)...thanks!

Lots of love, Peggi

A True Gentleman

It's hard to believe that it has been nearly ten years since Mr. K saved my daughter's life...she was only eight at the time and had been sick with a cold/stomach flu for a couple of days. But the morning I woke up and found her on the floor in her bedroom with a fever higher than I could ever imagine, glassy eyed, and in tremendous pain I took her right to the doctor. Mr. K took one look at her and said, "Appendicitis." Even before he examined her he knew - and he was right - and if he had not gotten her next door to the surgeon and then scheduled for emergency surgery at the hospital right then we would have lost her.
At that point in my life, as well as today, I thank God for Mr. K and his quick reaction, insight, humility and grace.
Two years later my Mom was dying from lung cancer. Again, Mr. K was a great strength and helped me through her illness, her passing, my grief, and my return to strength. His words were always kind and hopeful; he was always full of humor and faith. God, I am so glad you allowed him to be in our lives during those two horrific times to help lighten our load.
When I saw his obituary in our local paper yesterday I was stunned and saddened. Yes, I knew he had been ill for years but still the reality of his passing his family and friends must be feeling now is, I am sure, indescribable.
Anyone, and everyone, who's life was ever touched by this man's was blessed. I am sure he is at peace now, but that he is still finding a way to bring smiles where tears were, and that he'll never be far from those he cared about and who loved him.

I found this quote, and I believe it sums up Mr. K's style and grace... "We sometimes meet an original gentleman, who, if manners had not existed, would have invented them." Author: Ralph Waldo Emerson

A Giant of a Sign

The world's largest Amoco sign - at least, that's what they tell me. On the corner of Clayton Rd. and Skinker, St Louis, MO ... will wonders never cease? LOL (I thought the use of b and w gave this more of an artsy, vintage look =) xoxo everyone!

Greenville Clock - Greenville Illinois

After the rain ... the folks in Greenville are very proud of their historic clock...I was quite reminded of Michael J. Fox in Back to the Future, and the clock that was so important in that film. Anyway, Greenville is a great little midwestern town - very friendly and welcoming =)
