True Colors

Digital/Mixed Media Collage - combined various photos I took in Bisbee, AZ, along with some pics of tree bark, and assorted textures..

No Trespassing

I sort of liked how this one turned out ... I combined a couple of photos I took, and then digitally collaged over them. I know it's sort of dark, so I brought out the highlights of the grasses - and I think that gave the image more contrast.

Don't Fence Her In

Something about the lady in this photo - probably her rather stubborn and independent look reminded me of the title of that old song "Don't Fence Me In". I bet she was a vintage lady with attitude =)

Sanctuary

Been introspective as of late ... yesterday was the year anniversary of my Dad's passing away, and so I felt more like "laying low" a bit. I planted some herbs and small flowery plants (love allysum! their scent is soooo beautiful!). My Dad, as some of you know, was very instrumental in my love of art and in my blogging...I guess when I do a picture, or post something here, it is really in his memory that I do so. Damn - life really can suck sometimes...In May my Mom will have been gone for seven years. She passed away on Mother's Day in 2000; both of them suffered through long and valiant battles with cancer. Anyway, I do not mean to sound like a "downer" here; I know that everyday I get stronger and grow and will most certainly keep on living my life to its fullest. Truly I believe that is how we can best honor those we have lost. So my post today is for them, and for you my sweet blogging friends ... reach for the stars, and make your wildest dreams come true! xxxooo

Paper Moon

What works best with a paper moon? Why a paper doll of course! =)

I never feel a thing is real
When I'm away from you
Out of your embrace
The world's a temporary parking place
Mmm, mm, mm, mm
A bubble for a minute
Mmm, mm, mm, mm
You smile, the bubble has a rainbow in it
Say, its only a paper moon
Sailing over a cardboard sea
But it wouldn't be make-believe
If you believed in me
Yes, it's only a canvas sky
Hanging over a muslin tree
But it wouldn't be make-believe
If you believed in me
Without your love
It's a honky-tonk parade
Without your love
It's a melody played in a penny arcade
It's a Barnum and Bailey world
Just as phony as it can be
But it wouldn't be make-believe
If you believed in me

Words by Billy Rose, Yip Harburg, and Harold Arlen, 1933...(silly old song =)
